"لا تبكي كلنا ميتون". جارتنا بدأت بالتخفيف من أحزان أمي عندما شاهدتها تذرف الدموع. استرسلت أمي في الكلام "كان بخير وعافية هذا الصباح"، الجارة طافة بها الذاكرة لمشاهد الراحلين عن دنيتها ولنفسها قالت: "قدر ومكتوب ذاك الحزن والدموع على النساء. نحن شاهدات دائماً على الفراق". بصوت متأثر وهي تحتضن أمي أكثر "في الجنة لقاؤنا بأحبائنا"، قالت أمي: "كان وفياً وحارساً أميناً ويلعب مع الأطفال". وهي تمسح دموع أمي: "الطيبون هم من يرحلون دائماً، ونبقى نحن الأشقياء".
كانت جارتنا لأكثر من شهر تقلّد أمي وهي تبكي، وتحكي للجيران، كيف وقع قلبها في صبيحة يوم العيد، بتمثيلها المبالغ فيه حول دموع أمي، على رحيل الذي عدّته مجرّد كلب
