حري بنا أن نركز على دراسة مدينة بيت المقدس: تاريخاً، وحضارة، وأدباً، في مختلف العصور التاريخية، لا سيما أنها رازحة في ظل الإحتلال الصهيوني الذي يعمل على تغيير معالمها المختلفة.
وفي هذا العمل، أركز على تبين صورتها في الأدب، شعره ونثره، فأقوم بجمع وتحقيق ما قيل من الشعر والنثر حول بيت المقدس، في فترة الحروب الصليبية، حيث تعرضت المدينة المقدسة للغزو الصليبي، منذ أواخر القرن الخامس الهجري، حتى منتصف القرن السابع الهجري، وبالتحديد منذ سنة 490هـ، وحتى سنة 648هـ، فقد حُررت من الغزاة الصليبيين، للمرة الثالثة، وكانت آخر فلولهم تخرج منها في سنة 642هـ.
لقد كانت مدينة بيت المقدس المحور الذي صوره الأدب في تلك الفترة، وقد رُفع لواء الجهاد عالياً لتحرير ديار الإسلام، وكان السبيل إلى ذلك وحدة المسلمين في مصر، والشام، والعراق، في سبيل التحرير، فكان الفتح القدسي العظيم على يد القائد صلاح الدين الأيوبي.
وفي هذا المجموع الشعري قرابة مائة قصيدة ومقطوعة، وكان قائلوها من الشعراء ممن عاشوا في ظل العصر الفاطمي، أو في ظل العهد الأتابكي، أو في ظل العصر الأيوبي.
ومن الممكن أن نقسم هذا المجموع الشعري إلى أقسام تمثل المراحل التي مر بها بيت المقدس، في فترة الحروب الصليبية، وهي أربع مراحل: في أولاها قيل شعر يمثل الهزيمة، وفي ثانيتها قيل شعر يدعو إلى الجهاد، والوحدة، والتحرير، وفي ثالثتها قيل شعر يمثل النصر القدسي، وفي رابعتها قيل شعر يمثل مرحلة تتراوح بين الهزيمة والنصر.
