يأتي هذا المؤلف محاولة لسبر الأصول العلمية للاهتمامات النظرية بموضوع "إدارة العمليات" بما يمكن من استنباط وبلورة أفكار حاولنا أن نجد نقاط التقائها مع ما ذهب إليه الكتاب والمختصون من خلال ما أجريناه إسهاماً متواضعاً استهدف إقامة فهم جديد في "إدارة العمليات" باتجاه دعم الأفكار الداعية إلى الانتقال بوظيفة الإنتاج من مستوى الاهتمامات التقنية والتشغيلية فحسب إلى مستوى الاهتمامات الاستراتيجية مدركين أن ذلك يعد مساراً يقبل المنطق ويستند إلى التأصيل سبيله إلى تحقيق أهداف استراتيجية مرغوبة في "إدارة العمليات" فضلاً عن الأهداف الشتغيلية، لافتقار المكتبة العربية بشكل عام إلى الكتابات والمؤلفات المعمقة في هذا المجال، فإن أهمية المؤلف تكمن في إسهامه في توضيح المعالم النظرية لموضوع "إدارة العمليات".
وكان اتجاهنا في صياغة هذا الكتاب عبر أحد عشر فصلاً استهلت بالحديث عن أصالة علم "إدارة العمليات" وحداثته ومعاصرته وبداية، الفصول الأربعة تكون قد ابتدأت معالجة "إدارة العمليات" مفهوماً وفكراً، استراتيجياً، خدمياً، وإدارة النوعية الكلية. ثم استكمل المؤلف بالانتقال إلى الجوانب التشغيلية القراراتية، فقد خصصت الفصول (5-10) إلى التصميم المنتوج، التصميم التشغيلي، التنبؤ، الطاقة، الجدولة، المخزون، فضلاً عن الفصل الأخير الذي خصص لإثارة موضوع المعرفة العملياتية.
