تبدأ الإجراءات الجنائية بمرحلة التحري والاستدلال واستقصاء الجريمة والكشف عن ملابساتها وملاحقة مرتكبيها وضبطهم ويتولى هذه المهام رجال الضابط العدلية الذين يستندون في عملهم إلى سلطه الدولة في العقاب وملاحقة كل شخص انتهك حرمات النظام الذي أقره المجتمع لأن بروز الجريمة يهدد الناس في أرواحهم واموالهم وقيمهم ويحرمهم الأمن والاستقراء. وبعد ذلك تبدأ مرحلة التحقيق الابتدائي وهي مرحلة فرض القانون وفيها يتم إعداد ملف الدعوى وتجميع الأدلة ويتولى مهمة التحقيق المدعي العام تحت إشراف النيابة العامة ثم تبدأ المرحلة الأخيرة وهي مرحلة التحقيق النهائي الذي يتولاه القاضي المختص ويطلق عليها مرحلة المحاكمة حيث تنتهي بصدور حكم قضائي نهائي وبات وبعدها يتم تنفيذ العقوبة وتتولى النيابة العامة هذه المهام وبهذا تنتهي كافة الإجراءات الجزائية وهذا الذي ذكرناه هو ما تم دراسته في هذا الكتاب والتطرق إليه في فصوله.
