تكاد اغلب المجتمعات في العالم تمارس الطقوس في حياتها، لكن تختلف الممارسات من مجتمع إلى آخر. ففي المجتمعات المتمدنة تكون الطقوس جزء من هويتها الثقافية وتراثها الثقافي فيمارسون الطقوس كاعتزازهم بتاريخهم الثقافي فيشكل الطقس لهم مظهر خارجي ليس إلا. اما في المجتمعات البدائية فالطقوس تشكل عندهم هويتهم الدينية وروح التضامن والقداسة فلم تشكل الطقوس لهم مظهراً خارجياً بل جزء مهم من تكوينهم الوجودي واستنتجنا ذلك حسب ما لاحظته الدراسات الانثروبولوجيا التي جرت في تلك المجتمعات.
وبالتالي ان طقوس عاشوراء التي تجري في الشوارع من كل سنة في محرم هي شبيه بالطقوس البدائية إلى حدا ما. كذلك تعّد الطقوس العاشورائية جزء من تكوين الجماعة الشيعية وجزء من وجودهم ومصيرهم التاريخي. كما ان الطقوس في المجتمعات البدائية تمارس من اجل استمالة الإله او الارواح العليا لجلب منافعها ودفع مضارها، اما الطقوس العاشورائية حسب ثقافة المجتمع الشيعي هي من اجل الشفاعة وغفران الذنوب ليس إلا، فضلاً عن أن الطقوس في المجتمعات البدائية وفي مجتمعاتنا تكون نوع من التخدير والتصوف من اجل الهروب من الواقع والبؤس والالم لربط حياتهم بأمل هم صانعيه وهذا ضرب من الافيون فارغ المحتوى. اتسائل هنا.
هل ما زال آثار الثقافة البدائية قابع في لا شعورنا الجمعي؟ ام نحن ما زلنا بدائيون بامتياز؟.
