إن الهدف من ترجمة هذا الكتاب الذي نفخر بتقديمه للقارئ العربي، هو أن نمد يد العون والمعرفة لكل من القضاة والمحامين وطلاب الحقوق وغيرهم من المثقفين في كافة الدول العربية لإستيعاب وفهم أدق واوفر وأعمق لكل قوانين البيع في العالم، بما في ذلك قانون المعاملات المدنية لسنة 1984، الذي استمد نصوصه من مواد القانون الأردني، وهي لا تختلف كثيراً عن المواد الواردة في سائر التشريعات العربية الحديثة إلا في بعض المسائل التفصيلية.
لقد اعتمد المؤلف في شرحه لمواد قانون البيع الجديد لسنة 1979 على السوابق القضائية التي صدرت في ظل القانون القديم فضلاً عن السوابق الحديثة، مما يؤكد حقيقة أن القواعد الرئيسية في القانونين القديم والجديد واحدة، لذلك أصاب المؤلف لما وصف طبعة كتابه التي ننقلها إلى العربية، بأنها الطبعة السابعة، بإعتبار أنها إمتداد وتطوير للطبعة الأولى الصادرة في 1963.
