إن علم الكلام على ما عرَّفه العلماء هو لم يتضمن الحجاج عن العقائد الإيمانية بالأدلة العقلية، والرد على المبتدعة المنحرفين في الإعتقادات، لذلك كثرَ الحوار فيه مع الفرق، وأدى ذلك إلى المقارعة مع أهل الأهواء والبدع، وإلى سبر أقوالهم وذكر مذاهبهم والرد على أدلتهم كما فعل عضد الملة والدين عبد الرحمن الإيجي في كتابه "المواقف" وكما فعل المصنف أبو المعين النسفي في كتابه "بحر الكلام" ولا غرابة في ذلك فهي سنة ورثة الأنبياء عليهم الصلاة والسلام في كل عصر.
ويتضمن علم التوحيد أيضاً إثبات وجود الباري جل جلاله ووحدانيته وتنزيهه عن خلقه، وإبداعه وتدبيره في خلقه، ويدل على ذلك كله كلمة التوحيد (لا إله إلا الله).
إذا هو علم تتجلى فيه معرفة واجب الوجود وباعث الرسل ليتميز الصحيح من السقيم والحق من الباطل، وإن للحق قوة جاذبة لا يستطيع من يراه إلا أن ينجذب إليه طوعاً أو كرهاً.
وسر المعرفة، التوحيد وحقيقتها، نور يطرح في قلب المؤمن وعلامتها، حياة القلب مع الله تعالى، والتوحيد وإن كان فطرياً إلا أنه يحتاج إلى نظر لأن مقارعة الألداء من أهل الأهواء تحتاج إلى ذلك والنظر قانون الإستدلال الموصل إلى العلم.
