من ذاك المكان المتموضع فيما بين شارع النصر وسوق الحميدية، تبدأ حكاية هذا الكتاب، من قصر العدل وبابه العالي الذي يؤمه المئاتُ يومياً من قضاةٍ ومحامين ومراجعين، نزيح الستار عن قصص كانت طيّ الكتمان، مغيبةً بعالم النسيان، حاول الغبار التهامها وطمس معالمها، بعد أن تثاقل على الصحف التي دونتها، فنفضنا الغبار عن تلك الصحف والمجلات، وبدأنا نفصل ما فيها قصاصة قصاصة، حتى وصلنا إلى مجموع هذه القصاصات التي وضعناها بين أيديكم.
تعكس هذه القصاصات مرآة المجتمع القانوني السوري، في الحقبة الممتدة من العام 1918 وحتى العام 1961، كيف كان قضاتها؟ وكيف تشكلت محاكمها؟ وكيف بُني القصر العدلي، ومن بناه؟ ومن مِنَ السياسيين السوريين من رؤساء ووزراء مثلوا أمام محاكمه، ووبِخوا من قضاته؟...
تلك القصاصات، جزءٌ من واقع، احببناها أم لم نحبها، إلا أنها جاثمة في قلب التاريخ العربي السوري، لا يمكننا رميها أو تجاهلها، بل يجب علينا قراءتها بتمعن، وإستخلاص العبر منها، علها تعبد الطريق، لبلدٍ عانى كثيراً، وأشد ما يحتاج إليه، أن يراجع أبناءه ماضيهم ويتعلموا منه.
