عقد شعراؤنا المعاصرون أواصر علاقة وثقى بتراثهم العربي في أروع صورها وأصفاها، وتميزت هذه العلاقة بقدر كبير من الإستيعاب والفهم الواعي؛ مما جعل من التراث كائناً حياً نابضاً بكل ألوان الحياة في وجدانهم وخاطرهم.
واختار البحث موضوعاً للدراسة من بين نتاج الشعراء المعاصرين، شعر فاروق شوشة؛ ليكون نموذجاً دالاً ومعبراً عن طبيعة تعامل الشاعر المعاصر مع تراثه، وكيفية توظيفه لمعطياته عناصر وأدوات، بإعتبار شعره أصدق تمثيلاً، وأغزر دلالة في هذا الجانب الرحب، وبإعتبار فاروق شوشه أيضاً من أكثر الشعراء المعاصرين الذين يحرصون ويعملون على تجديد هذه التقنية الفنية، وإثرائها بخصوبة عطائه، وبراعة أدائه.
وبناء على ذلك نهض البحث على محاور ثلاثة في تناوله للإستمداد من التراث في شعر فاروق شوشة من حيث بنياته الشعرية: الفصل الأول: اللغة الشعرية، ويركز على المجالات والحقول اللغوية التي يتشكل منها معجمه، وفيها امتاح من التراث؛ أما الفصل الثاني: التشكيل الموسيقي، ويعرض للبناء الموسيقي في شعره المستمد من الإيقاعات الموروثة للشعر العربي، والفصل الثالث: الصورة الشعرية ويتناول العناصر والمكونات التي تتشكل منها صوره الشعرية وفيها استمد من التراث.
