يضم الكتاب بين دفتيه تسعة وحدات، حيث تحتوي الوحدة الأولى على تعريف للخدمات المساندة وأنواعها، أما الوحدة الثانية فتحتوي على الخدمات التأهيلية ومبرراتها وأنواعها، كذلك تتناول الوحدة الثالثة الخدمات الطبية ووسائلها، أما الوحدة الرابعة فركزت على الخدمات الأكاديمية، أيضاً ركزت الوحدة الخامسة على الخدمات النفسية وكيفية الإرشاد النفسي للوالدين، كذلك الوحدة السادسة وضحت الخدمات الإجتماعية وأهدافها والمشكلات الناتجة عن الإعاقة، وقضايا الدفاع عن المعاقين، وزواج المعاقين.
وتتحدث الوحدة السابعة عن الخدمات المجتمعية ومفهوم التأهيل والمبادئ الأساسية للتأهيل المجتمعي، والبرنامج المنزلي (البورتج).
أما الوحدة الثامنة فتوضح الخدمات الرياضية والترويحية للمعاقين، وأخيراً تناولت الوحدة التاسعة الخدمات المهنية وتأهيل النساء المعاقات والمشاكل التي تواجه تلك العملية التأهيلية.
