شهد الغرب تطوراً مدهشاً للعلوم الطبيعية - نظرية وتطبيقية - أدى إلى إرساء صرح راسخ للنهضة الصناعية والفكرية والإجتماعية الشاملة، فبات منارة تهتدي بها الشعوبُ التواقة إلى الإنعتاق، ولا سيما في مصر ولبنان.
وقد كان للنهضة العربية بريقٌ أخّاذٌ لا بدّ من إستكناه أصوله وإمتداداته العلمية المختلفة، تمهيداً لنقل العلوم عبر وسائل متعددة أبرزها: أولاً، المدارس الجامعة بعد أن كانت بدائية ودينية في بيت، أو تحت سنديانة، أو في زاوية مسجد، ثانياً، المطابعُ التي باتت ضرورية لنشر الكتاب سريعاً، ومواكبة التكاثر الهائل لأعداد المتعلمين، هؤلاء لم تعد تستوعبهم أطرٌ منظمة بعد أن تخرجوا في الجامعة، فأخذوا عن الغرب إطاراً جديداً (ثالثاً) قادراً على التكيف، سمي مجمعاً أو جمعية علمية هدف كل منهما حشد الناس للإستماع إلى خطب علمية مفيدة يمكن تطبيقها عملياً، الوسيلة الرابعة لنشر العلوم كانت المجلات، سواء اصطبغت بالعلمية جزئياً أو كلياً، لأن ذلك متوقف على طبيعة المرحلة التي أصدرت فيها المجلة، ولا يخفى أن المجلات تسافر ما لا يسافره أهل الحل والترحال، وتجمع بين المعارف والعلوم ما لا تتسع له صدور الرجال.
وبسبب طول الموضوع وغناه وتشعبُه تبعاً لوسائل التعليم والثقيف، اقتصر هذا البحث على الوسيلة الأسرع للنشر والإنتشار، ولقابلية التطور والتكيف مرحلياً، ولقد قسم البحث قسمين متكاملين: قسماً أول هو بحث في فصلين: تناول المؤلف في الفصل الأول المجلات العلمية بإعتبارها وسيلة أسرع من الكتاب إنتشاراً وقبولاً للتوسع وتعدد الموضوعات.
أما الفصل الثاني "مناهج التنّفيذ" تناول فيه ثقافة الكتَاب العلميين وأصحاب المجلات، التفتّح على العلوم، والتكامل العلمي المتخصص، والتثقيف المتكامل، ثلاث مراحل تؤلّف القسم الثاني من البحث، وهو ذو صفة تطبيقيّة بعد الكشف السابق عن الأدوات ومناهج المنفّذين لعملية نقل المعارف والعلوم وتبسيطها ونشرها.
