يحكي هذا الكتاب قصة رحلة، بل مغامرة، غريبة، بطلها المبشر اليهودي النصراني جوزيف وولف (1795 - 1862م). وقد استغرقت هذه الرحلة قرابة ثلاث سنوات، بدأها المؤلف سنة 1843م، بغرض البحث عن اثنين من الضباط البريطانيين؛ هما: الكولونيل تشارلز ستودارت، والكابتن آرثر كونولي.
ويلمس القارئ في هذا الكتاب النظرة الغربية الاستعلائية تجاه المسلمين ودينهم وبلدانهم، وجهود اليهود لنصرة بني قومهم أينما كانوا، وعملهم على المزاوجة بين اليهودية والنصرانية لتحقيق أهدافهم والتبشير بقيام دولتهم في فلسطين، حيث كان المؤلف (جوزيف وولف) من أشد المناصرين لذلك.
وفي هذه الرحلة يورد المؤلف الكثير ممَّا هو مناف للحقيقة تجاه الإسلام ونبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم. وقد قام المتجم والمراجعون للترجمة بالرد على المؤلف وبيان زيف ما أورده من مغالطات.
