يؤرخ هذا الكتاب لفترة زمنية محدودة في بلاد الشام " سوريا" من 1918-1920. ويعتني بموضوع خاص جداً وهو الأحزاب والحياة الحزبية أيام الحكم العربي الفيصلي.
ويشير إلى الأحزاب التي كانت قائمة في هذه الفترة وهي :أ-أحزاب قومية: مثل جمعية العربية الفتاة التي استلمت الحكم في بادئ الأمر. ب-الأحزاب التي انشقت عنها: مثل: الحزب الوطني- حزب الذوات، واللجان الوطنية العليا- حزب الجماهير والأحياء، وحزب التقدم- وهو الحزب البرلماني، وحزب الاتحاد - وهو الحزب الذي أسسه السوريون في مصر. وقد عرفت هذه الفترة حكم: أ-الحزب الواحد وواجهاته وهو حزب جمعية العربية الفتاة. ب-وحكم المديرين. ج-والحكم الائتلافي من جميع أحزاب الفترة.
كل ذلك في ظل حكم ملكي دستوري برئاسة الملك فيصل بن الحسين وقد اندثرت جميعها في سوريا بعد معركة ميسلون سنة 1920 ودخول سوريا بعد تجزئتها في مرحلة الانتداب.
