"الآسرة في المثل الشعبيّ الفلسطينيّ والعَرَبيِّ، لمؤلفه الأستاذ عبد الكريم عيد الحشاش، هو كتاب في الأمثال التي تتعلق بالأسرة العربية منذ بداية تشكلها وحتى فنائها - بتعبير الكاتب - في محاولة للمقارنة بين الأمثال الشعبية الفلسطينية بنظائرها من الأقطار العربية، وذلك بعد وضع المثل الشعبي الفلسطيني كأساس، ثم العمل على مقارنته بالأمثال الشعبية العربية التي تشابهه أو تضادّه في المعنى، وإيراد قصة المثل إن وجد له قصة، وذكر مضربه، وشرح الألفاظ الغربية، وذكر المصادر التي أخذ منها الأمثال، وما يماثل كل مثل شعبي من نص عربي فصيح، من الإطالة أو الإكثار من الإستشهادات لأن الهدف من هذا العمل كما يقول الكاتب "هو التعريف بالأمثال الشعبية العربية التي تسوق الناس في حياتهم الحالية، آملاً أن يجد القارئ متعة، وفائدة ترشده إلى سرّ ترابط الأسرة العربية وأساس بنائها.
وبناءً عليه، توزعت الأمثال في الكتاب بين: الخطبة والحب، الخطبة والأصل، الحث على الزواج، المهر، الساعي في الخطبة، التريث في الزواج، زواج الأقارب، زواج الأباعد، زواج الأغنياء، زواج البدل، هموم العرس ومتاعبه، ما يقال للعروسين، ما قيل في الرجال والنساء، مشابهة الأبناء للآباء، كثرة الأبناء وقلتهم، العمة والخالة، الضرة والسلفة، موت الأخ والأخت... وسواها من أمثال.
