يعد هذا الكتاب الأول عن شخصية عسكرية لعبت دورا هاما في اللحظات التاريخية التي غيرت معالم التاريخ السياسي للعراق الحديث ولاسيما في انقلاب 14تموز الماع 1958 وكذلك في الانقضاض على الانقلاب في 8 شباط 1963 وكذلك انقلاب 17 تموز 1968، وكانت مكافأة هذا القائد العسكري الفذ من قبل البعث بعد أن نجح في استلام السلطة مرة ثانية في العام 1968 وبمساعدة القائد حردان التكريتي أن يكون اغتياله في الكويت بغية التخلص منه ومن حضوره المهيب في القوات المسلحة والعراقية وفي نفوس الكثير من المقربين الذين عرفوا طيبة وإخلاص هذا القائد.
