يشتمل هذا الكتاب على أربعة أجزاء رئيسية، يضم الجزء الأول المفاهيم والنصوص الرئيسية في مجال علم الإجتماع باللغة الإنكليزية، حيث انتقت المؤلفة عباراتها إنتقاءً بهدف توفير خلاصة مركزة للطالب الناطق باللغة العربية لكل منها، وبما يمّكن هذا الطالب من التعامل المباشر والمتفاعل مع اللغة التي كتبت فيها المادة أصلاً وهي اللغة الإنكليزية.
وخصصت الجزء الثاني من الكتاب لترجمة المفاهيم والنصوص باللغة العربية كما جاءت أيضاً في تسلسلها النصي وذلك لتحقيق الهدف الأكثر أهمية وهو فهم النصوص بأوضح وأدق ما يمكن من الفهم؛ وتحسباً لإحتمالات أن يجد البعض من الطلبة صعوبةً في الإجابة على الأسئلة، وضعت المؤلفة الأجوبة بحسب تسلسلها النصي، وذلك باللغة الإنكليزية، كجزء ثالث يلي الجزء الثاني.
وبغية توفير الوقت والجهد على الطالب، إختتمت المؤلفة الكتاب (الجزء الرابع) بقاموس خاص يحتوي على معاني معظم المفردات الواردة في النصوص المذكورة مرتبةً بحسب أبجديتها باللغة الإنكليزية.
