تعنى هذه الدراسة بدراسة التراكيب اللغوية والدلالات التي تحملها في كتاب المواقف، والمواقف كتاب في المعرفة الصوفية، لأحد أقطاب التصوّف في العراق خلال القرن الرابع الهجري، وهو محمد بن عبد الجبار بن الحسن النِّفَّري (المتوفى نحو 354هــ)... وكتابه يعدّ من أرقى انواع النثر الصوفي الفني إبداعاً في القرن الرابع الهجري.
وقد استطاع الباحث في هذه الدراسة إبراز ما تضمن كتاب المواقف من تراكيب، وما اشتملت عليه من خصائص لغوية وفنية، وما اعتراها من ظواهر كالحذف والإيجاز والتقديم والتأخير والفصل والوصل.
وعرض الباحث أساليب النفّري التي تميّزت بالتنوع في الخطاب لتتناسب مع مواقف السلوك الصوفي المختلفة، وتوصّل الباحث إلى أن معايير النحاة وعلماء المعاني القديمة يمكن التعويل عليها لدراسة النثر الصوفي بوصفه فرعاً من فروع الأدب العربي؛ ذلك لأن أنماط تراكيبه وأساليبه تنحو في أغلب مادتها إلى عين الأساليب اللغوية المتاحة في العربية مع التصرف بها وتطويعها لإستيعاب عباراتهم الملغّزة وإشاراتهم المبهمة.
وقد أسهمت هذه الدراسة في كشف الطاقات التعبيرية الكامنة في اللغة الصوفية وخصائصها الفنية التي لم تنل حظاً وافراً في حقل الدراسات اللغوية.
