إيليا بريغوجين، عالم ومفكر، مولود في روسيا مع بواكير أكتوبر الإشتراكية عام 1917. هاجرت أسرته إلى بلجيكا عام 1927، ليتعلم هناك وينشأ، ويتميز في بحوث إنسانية (آثار – تاريخ – فنون) وعلمية صرفة (الكيمياء والبيولوجيا) أكسبته شهرة عالمية فاشتهر وابتكر، حتى حصل على جائزة نوبل في ثيرموداينميك، المنظومات اللامتوازية (عام 1977) في سن الستين.
يعد بريغوجين بحق واحداً من عمالقة العصر لاهتمامه بدور الزمن في العلوم الأحيائية والنظم البيولوجية والبناء الحضاري، تمحورت كشوفه في (القوى البدئية والطاقة والأنطروبيا والتعقيد والتشتت) الكايوسية، وتأويله الفلسفي للقانون الثاني للثرمودانيك، ودور الزمن في البيولوجيا والحياة والحضارة، حتى أصبح رئيساً للمجموعة الدولية للنظام ( ISSS ) ثم رئيساً للأكاديمية الدولية المسماة LODE "وكالة الإعتمادات العالمية".
في هذا الكتاب يقف أ.د. علي حسين الجابري على حقيقة (الكايوسية)؟ وموقعها في خارطة الفكر المعاصر ودورها في الحياة الجديدة أو ما نسميه (الفوضى الخلاّقة)، فيبحث عن ابرز رجال الكايوسية ومنجزاتهم ، وكيف يمكن مواصلة الحوار مع مشروع الكايوسية المعرفي على صعيد الحضارة والعلوم، بعيداً عن السياسة وخطابها المضلل.
لأجل ذلك اتبع المؤلف المنهج العقلاني في هذا الكتاب والمرأوي أحياناً إلى جانب الهندسي المعرفي فقاده هذا إلى تقسيم الكتاب، على سبعة فصول، تدور حول جدلية الإنسان والطبيعة (البيئة) ، وهو الموضوع الأكثر قرباً، من هموم الإنسان، وتردي علاقته بسهم الزمن، وحاجته إلى الثقافة الإحيائية الجديدة، إلى جانب دراسة (مربع العلوم الذهبي) . وجاءت الفصول الللاحقة للوقوف عند الكايوسية، ممثلة في شخص مفكرها، إيليا بريفوجين المتوفي عام 2003، وفي أهم موضوعاتها، التي تدور حول الديناميكيا الحيوية والإجتماعية، والعلاقة بينه وبين برغسون باعتباره واحداً من مصادر فلسفة بريغوجين الكايوسية، فضلاً عن تحري آراء الباحثين في فلسفته، إن كان في حياته، أم بعد وفاته بعقد من الزمن، في محاولة لتقديم دراسة شاملة لعلمه اللامتوقع.
