إن من أعظم نِعم الله سبحانه وتعالى على الإنسان أن جعله ذا نسب لأبويه ولمّا كان النسب من أكبر النِعم على الإنسان وأكثرها تأثيراً عليه وضع المؤلف هذا الكتاب في موضوع النسب لما له من أهمية كبرى ولعدم وجود بحث أو كتاب تناول هذا الموضوع بمفرده على أهميته وكثرة تفريعاته.
وبناءً عليه، قسم الكتاب إلى تمهيد وفصلين، حيث تناول المؤلف في التمهيد موضوع إثبات النسب من حيث التعريف في اللغة العربية والإصطلاح الفقهي والقانوني والعلاقة بين المعنى اللغوي والإصطلاحي وشروط الإثبات في الشريعة الإسلامية والقانون.
أما الفصل الأول فتحدث عمّا يثبت به النسب وقد قسّم إلى خمسة مباحث يثبت بها النسب في الشريعة الإسلامية.
وأما الفصل الثاني فتحدث عمّا ينتفي به النسب، وقد تحدث فيه المؤلف عن: اللعان من حيث تعريفه ومشروعيته من الكتاب والسنة والإجماع وكيفية اللعان والشروط الواجب توفرها فيه والآثار المترتبة عليه.
وقد ختم الكتاب خاتمة وضّحت أهم ما توصل إليه المؤلف في هذا الكتاب.
