رويت لتلاميذي اليوم في مسجد الرأب قصة أستاذي المقدس الخاطري، قلت لهم لقد ارتدى عباءته ذات يوم وخرج لبعض أرحامه في سوق الزمايل. كنت انتظره حاملاً مبيضة كتابي "سلوى الوحوش" عند محلاج الحويش، دخل إلى عجوز من أهله فنبهته أنه يرتدي عباءته بالمقلوب، قلبها. خرج وصادف أن يماشيه أولادالصايغ وهم ينقلون أثاث بيتهم على ظهورهم، ففطن المقدس على صورته في مرآة بيت الصايغ وعباءته مقلوبة؛ فقلبها.
لم تكن العباءة تنقلب كل مرة على كتفه من ظاهرها إلى باطنها، إنما كان الانقلاب جوهرها.
ركض خلف صورته في الساقية فشاهد عباءته مقلوبة فقلبها، ثم قلبها.
