يقدم هذا الكتاب الموسوم بــ"الفلسفة الفرنسية المعاصرة: جدل التموقع والتوسع" إسهامات المفكرين الفرنسيين المعاصرين، بحيث يعطي فكرة عامة عن قضاياها وتياراتها وموضوعاتها وأعلامها.
ترتكز فصول الكتاب على إستراتيجية التموقع والتوسع، فمن جهة تقوم الفلسفة الفرنسية في جوهرها على مفهوم التعالي، والشعور بضرورة تفسير العالم وقولبته وإعادة صياغته وفقاً لنظرتها ومصالحها، وتأملاً للموضوعات ذات العلاقة بالإرث الفلسفي الحديث - الديكارتي تحديداً، بإعتباره أب الفلسفة الحديثة، وما الأمر في النهاية سوى صراع حضاري بين منظومات فلسفية أخرى (الفلسفة الألمانية، الفلسفة الأنجلوساكسونية... إلخ)، لكن من جهة أخرى تريد الفلسفة الفرنسية أن تقدم شمولية فكرية ونظرية للموضوعات المطروحة وقضايا الفكر في شكل توسعي، بما هي فلسفة قارية تناقش موضوعات وقضايا الإنسان الراهن، وبما أن مفكريها انخرطوا فعلاً في قضايا خارج حدود جغرافيا الفكر الفرنسي، وهو في الحقيقة تحدّ مزدوج سواء من حيث التموقع أو من حيث التوسع، هذا الذي تواجهه الفلسفة الفرنسية المعاصرة.
لقد توزعت مقالات الكتاب ودراساته على خمسة أقسام، تمثل الحقول الكبرى للتفكير الفلسفي الفرنسي المعاصر، وهي رؤى فلسفية: القسم الأول: حقل اللغة من الفيلولوجيا إلى الدرس الوصفي، القسم الثاني: الإنسان وعلامات التفرد، القسم الثالث: حفريات في المعرفة والمنهج والسلطة، القسم الرابع: مساءلة الحداثة مقولة فلسفية أم واقع غربي؟، القسم الخامس: التأويل والتفكيك ولعبة المعنى.
