ويسلط الدكتور "يحيى البشتاوي" الضوء في هذا الكتاب على قراءات الفلسفة والمسرح وللقضايا المعاصرة التي شغلت إهتمام المفكرين على مر العصور.
فقد تناول المؤلف عدداً من القضايا ضمن معطيات المذاهب المسرحية وضمن نتاجات عدد من المسرحيين من رمزيين وتعبيريين ووجوديين، فإتجه فيما إلى تناول عدد من القضايا بحسب موضوعاتها وذلك من أجل التخصيص هنا لا التعميم حول تلك القضية.
وبما ان إغتراب الإنسان عن الطبيعة والمجتمع وعن نشاطه الخاص وعن نفسه قد شكل مثاراً للجدل، فقد اهتم المؤلف بدراسة موضوع الإنسان ومشكلة الإغتراب في الفكر الفلسفي؛ كذلك فقد تناول المؤلف قضايا الموت والقهر الإجتماعي والحرب إضافة إلى قضية فلسطين بوصفها قضية عربية مركزية.
