يعد فتحاً في الشروح، استفاد المؤلف ممن قبله وأوعب، فجاء شرحه شاملاً محققاً، اعتمد عليه جملة المتأخرين، وهو غني عن التعريف به، ولكن يجدر التنبيه هنا إلى الميزات التي أودعناها هذا التحقيق وهي:
1-العناية بنص متن صحيح البخاري ومقابلة النص على الشرح نفسه وطبعات الفتح.
2-زيادة بعض الألفاظ من بعض الكتب المعتمدة كالتغليق، والطبعة المقابلة على السلطانية.
3-ترقيمها بترقيمات الأستاذ محمد فؤاد عبد الباقي حتى تتوافق النسخة مع المعجم المفهرس لألفاظ الحديث وكنوز السنة.
4-استدرك الكثير من أطراف البخاري فيها، وبينت عند الطرف الأول ماهية الأطراف الأخرى إليه زيادة وطولاً واختصاراً ونحو ذلك.
5-خرجت أحاديث البخاري من صحيح مسلم، مع بيان اختلاف في بعض الألفاظ بينهما.
6-خرجت القراءات المعتمدة عند البخاري (كما وصلنا من الرواية عنه) والمخالفة لقراءة حفص عن عاصم.
7-زيد متن صحيح البخاري دقة وصحة، فقد صححنا ما وقع فيه من هنات في الطبعة الأولى.
8-صححت نسخة الفتح قدر الإمكان اعتماداً على النسخ المطبوعة، وكان قد وقع في المطبوع منها أخطاء غير يسيرة، فتفادينا الكثير منها، ونرجو أن لا نكون وقعنا في مثلها في مطبوعتنا هذه.
9-حاولنا توزيع فقرات الشرح لأنها كانت في المطبوعات السابقة متداخلة في أكثرها.
10-زود الكتاب بفهارس شاملة للمحتويات، وفهارس للأحاديث والآثار مرتبة على حروف الجهاد، في نحو ثمانية عشر ألف طرف مفهرس لأحاديث البخاري.
