يشهد موضوع التحديث في دول الخليج العربية زخماً مستمراً، وسجالاً اجتماعياً محتدماً، وبخاصة في المرحلة الأخيرة والأسرع من حراك الحداثة، أو ما بات يسمى في التوصيف النظري "مرحلة ما بعد الحداثة". تلك المرحلة التي لا تزال مؤثراتها الاجتماعية قوية أينما حلت. وبرغم تشابه التجربة الخليجية مع بعض التجارب في دول أخرى، فإن الخليج اليوم يعيش في ظل الحداثة السريعة تحديات غير مسبوقة؛ تتعلق بمظاهر الحداثة ومضامينها. وهذا ما تحاول هذه الدراسة أن تناقشه معتمدة على الخطاب الشبابي، حيث استندت إلى آراء مجموعة من الشباب، الذين تم استقصاء مشاركاتهم عبر صفحات التواصل الاجتماعي، مثل: "تويتر" و"فيسبوك" وغيرهما. وعلى الرغم من أن هذه المجموعة غير تمثيلية، فإنها تقدم فكرة عن خطاب العادات والتقاليد، وآراء الشباب الخليجي في التغيرات التي طالت منظومة القيم لمجتمعات على مستوى عالٍ من التقليد والمحافظة. وجاءت الآراء متعددة وتبرز اختلافات عدة بين دول الخليج. وتُظهر هذه الدراسة عمق إشكالية التحديث في دول الخليج، وخاصة عندما يتعلق الموضوع بقضايا العادات والتقاليد، وتبعات مؤثراتها في الأسرة واللغة والهوية والملبس وغيرها من الأبعاد التي تناولها الشباب. وبرزت علاقة العادات والتقاليد كمأزق متناقض مع الحداثة؛ ما يدعو إلى التساؤل عن ظهورها كفعل تغييري ينطلق من صميم المجتمع، ويُحدث عملية تغيير جذري، أو ستبقى مجرد إطار مستحدث من تجارب أخرى، وطريقة نقل أكثر منها عملية خلق؟ وإذا نظرنا إلى تجربة الخليج في التغيير السريع كتجربة ذاتية ومتميزة؛ فـهل ستفيـد التـجـارب العـالمـيـة الأخـرى واللغة والهوية؟
