جمع المؤلف في هذا الكتيب بعض المسائل في آداب صحبة الأبرار مستدلاً على ذلك بالآيات القرآنية والأحاديث النبوية، وبأقوال الصحابة والتابيعن والأئمة المجتهدين وأقوال بعض أهل الزهد والمتقين، وذكر أقوال العلماء فيها، من الصحة والحسن. وقد تجنب الأحاديث الضعيفة، فكانت هذه المواعظ التي ذكرها في رسالته هذه ذكرى لطلاب العلم، لكي يصاحب الإنسان الأخيار، ويجتنب الأشرار، لأن الصحبة لها تأثير كبير في المجتمع.
