الحالة الأولى هي حالة الخطاب، تقدّم عرضاً، تتلو نصاً، تعرض معطيات... المستمع هنا ينصت لأمور ثابتة، لا شيء يتحرّك فيشعر عندها بالضجر.
الحالة الثانية هي حالة المسار، أي هناك بداية ووسط ونهاية، كأنما قصّة تجري، يوجد مفاجآت، وصور، ووقائع، وإنقلاب في الأوضاع، بإختصار يوجد إستثارة للإهتمام.
أما الحالة الثالثة فهي حينما تستطيع أن تجعل ذلك الشخص يشاركك، تجعله يدخل في الأحداث وتشعره بأن كثيراً من القضايا تتوقف عليه، وبأنه لن يعود هو نفسه بعد مروره بالحدث كما كان من قبل، عندئذٍ تسجل فوراً في تغييره لأنك أدخلته في تفاعل.
هذا هو سرّ التفاعل الإجتماعي الذي نعيشه وأهميّة دراسته كموضوعاً رئيسياً من موضوعات علم النفس الإجتماعي.
