تأسيساً على أهمية مجلة مجمع اللغة العربية لدارسي التراث اللغوي عند العرب أقدم الباحث "عبد الله الجبوري" إلى عرض مواد المجلة عبر سنواتها الحادية والأربعين (1-41) والتي صدرت بين 1351هـ-1935م/1398هـ-1978م، في هذا الكتاب سالكاً في عمله فهرسة مجلة المجمع اللغوي، منهجاً حديثاً في الفهرسة حيث فصل العمل في الكشف على جميع موادها، بما في ذلك: الأخبار المجمعية، والقرارات، والمسابقات... ونحو ذلك.
وقام بجعل هذا الكشاف منسوقاً على حروف المعجم، حاصراً مواده في ثلاث وعشرين مادة، تبدأ بالمادة الأولى بالأخبار المجمعية... (حرف الألف) وتنتهي بحرف النون (مادة/النحو).. ومواد الكشاف الأصلية هي: 1-أخبار مجمعية، 2-الأمثال العربية، 3-تاريخ اللغة (والدراسات اللغوية)، 4-تأريخ المجمع والمجلة (القرارات المتعلقة بهما ونحو ذلك)، 5-التراجم، 6-الثقافة العربية، 7-شخصيات مجمعية، 8-الشعر العربي، 9-العدد في اللغة، 10-علم الأصوات، 11-العلم واللغة، 12-الفصائل اللغوية، 13-فهارس لغوية، 14-قرارات المجمع (العلمية والإدارية)، 15-القرآن واللغة، 16-الكتابة العربية: الأساليب، الإملاء، الحروف العربية، حروف الطباعة، 17-اللغة العربية، 18-اللهجات العربية، 19-مسابقات المجمع الأدبية، 20-مصطلحات لغوية، 21-المعاجم، 22-معاني كلمات، 23-النحو...
