يعتبر إريك نظيراَ أوروبياً لمنغواي، ربما يرتد لإريك الرضا لو علم أن أعماله وشهرته في ألمانيا هذه الأيام هي في أعلى مرحلة من الإحترام.
تمنح جائزة إريك ماريا ريماك للسلام مرتين كل عام إلى مرشح من عوالم الأدب والصحافة والعلوم ممن يكون قد قدم خدمة بارزة في مجال السلام الداخلي والخارجي.يبقى إسمه وتبقى شهرته على نطاق العالم كله كأشهر الكتَاب في مجال الرواية المعادية للحرب على مر العصور.
