إلى يوم ظهور غييرمو شتاين، الطالب الجديد. فبين القمصان المقلّمة وقَصّات الشعر المتشابهة، برز شتاين في واقي مطر أحمر وسروال جلديّ، وجرأة تبلغ حدّ الوقاحة. يومذاك، اكتشف ريدورسا بُعدًا جديدًا للألوان. رآها نوراً يشعّ من منزل شتاين وأخته باولا، هذين الغريبين اللذين يجرؤان على العيش في عالم ملوّن.
