في هذا الكتاب محاولة مبسطة للغور في ذاكرة أهالي قرية بلد الشيخ ونبشها وتسجيلها, لرسم حدود الوطن للأجيال القادمة, وهي مرحلة شهدت استعماراً صهيونياً يستهدف اقتلاع الشعب الفلسطيني من أرضه, وتهويدها, ومن ثم شطب الهوية الوطنية لهذا الشعب.
في مواجهة تلك الهجمة الصهيونية, كان لزاماً علينا أن نضع بعض جهدنا البحثي, لخدمة الوطني العام, فكان كتاب بلد الشيخ, بمثابة دراسة لتسجيل ذاكرة أهلها حول المكان والزمان, هذه الذاكرة التي انتقل القسم الأكبر منها للأجيال اللاحقة فكان حب الوطن رمزاً لهذا التواتر الذي لم ينضب, وسقط في سبيل تحقيق حلم العودة الى الوطن العديد من شباب القرية بين شهيد وجريح في إطار العمل الوطني الفلسطيني بعد نكبة عام 1948.
