في قصائد الشاعر سعيد الشيخ "ملائكة تبكي خلف الأشجار" تستدعي الذات الشاعرة أناها المغايرة وتضعها قبالتها؛ لتقوم من خلال هذه المواجهة بإستنطاق تجربتها المعاصرة القائمة على وفق إحساسات الإغتراب والضياع، فإذا ما بحثنا عن هذه الوظيفة المرآتية في النص نجد أنها تتجسد في نمط العلاقة بين الذات الشعرية المعاصرة والذات الكائنة في وعي الشاعر المتمثلة بالأهل والصحبة والوطن الأم ومن خلالها أسس الشاعر هذه القناة التواصلية أو الشراكة بينه وبين المتلقي، وهذا من سمات الذائقة الشعرية الحديثة.
في القصيدة المعنونة "هنا ليست اميركا" يقول الشاعر: "في المنفى... لنا مصحات نفسية... تمسح عن أرواحنا... غبار الحرب... وتضمد حروقنا من الجحيم... لنا ما نكتسبه، ولنا ما نستعيده من ملامح الإنسان!"...
وهكذا بدا الشاعر سعيد الشيخ - كما يقول - "بكلمات قليلة... صنعت هذا الكون الفسيح... لم أكن إلهاً... إنما أنا المخلوق الضعيف... في الشعر جوع للدهشة... عطش للندى... هذه القصيدة كائن حيّ".
ويضم الكتاب سبعة عشر قصيدة نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: 1-توقيعات على مرايا الضوء، 2-ما من أحد يشعر مثل الملائكة، 3-أرواح هائمة في الفضاء، 4-نوح الخرائب، 5-لو يغتسل بالثلج ويغمض على البياض، 6-ـأريج الخلوات، 7-رواد النضرة... سادة الأريج، 8-أنا الأعمى... دعني أرى، 9-شذرات... وقصائد أخرى.
