Book Description
ولد ألدس هكسلى في سنة 1894 وكانت وفاته سنة 1963. وهو سليل أسرة حافلة بالنوابغ في العلم وميادين الفكر وشجاعة الرأي. فهو -على سبيل المثال- حفيد عالم الأحياء العظيم توماس هنري هكسلي قرين داروين في اكتشاف نظرية التطور، الذي أبت عليه أريحيته إلا أن يدع لداروين شهرتها الخالدة، ثم وقف لسانه الذرب وقلمه البليغ على الدفاع عنه- وكما داروين شديد الحياء لا ينطلق لسانه وقلمه عندما يناله الخصوم بالأباطيل. ثم هو ابن ليونارد هكسلي رئيس تحرير مجلة أدب وفكر ذات خطر اسمها "ذي كورنهيل مجازين"، وشقيق السير جوليان هكسلى العالم الشهير.
وقد تلقى الدس علومه في أيتون وبالبول، واشتغل بعد ذلك بالصحافة والنقد المسرحي قبل أن يقف جهده كله على التأليف.
وأول كتاب خطى باستلفات الأنظار من مؤلفاته مجموعة له بعنوان "ليمبو" وهو ابن أربع وعشرين سنة. وأعقبها بقصة شهيرة عنوانها "كروم بلو"، ثم "عشت عتيق" و"تلك الأوراق الجافة"، ولعل أشهر قصصه الطوال ثلاث قصص هي "نقطة مقابل نقطة" و"‘الم شجاع طريف" و"كفيف في غزة".
ومن الشواهد على ثقافته الموسوعية علمياً وفلسفياً أنه -حين كان يمل القراءة المنظمة- كان يتفكه لدفع الملل بقراءة مواد حيثما اتفق عن دائرة المعارف البريطانية فلا عجب أن تأتي كتاباته -من قصصية وغير قصصية- متميزة بالعمق الشديد، وألا تطيب قراءته إلا للصفوة من أهل الفكر والإطلاع, فهو يكاد يكون نسيج وحده بين كتاب القصة في هذا العمق الذي يسهم العلم الحديث وعلم النفس والتاريخ والفلسفة فيه بأوفى نصيب.
وفي هذه القصة "نقطة نقابل نقطة" تتجلى هذه المزايا في تكوين الشخصيات ودقة التحليل وسوق الأحداث والمشكلات على المستويين الفردي والاجتماعي، فإذا صورة فذة للجيل الحائر بين الحربين العالميتين من صفوة أهل الفن والفكر والجاه في انجلترا.. والعالم يتمخض عن أزمات التحول بين عصرين، حيث الديموقراطية تعالج غمرات كسكرات الاحتضار، وحيث الفاشية تتحفز للاستيلاء على ميراثها المرتقب.
