ولقد قسم الكاتب هذا البحث بحسب وحدة منهجية إلى بابين بخمسة فصول رأى أنها كفيلة في مجموعها أن تجلي فكرة الإنسان والحرية عند ابن عربي؛ وهي على الشكل التالي: الباب الأول: "الكائن والوجود"، وتضمن الفصل الأول: "جدل الحق والخلق"، الفصل الثاني: "الكيان المنشطر: إنفجار الكيان بحثاً عن الإنسان"؛ أما الباب الثاني، فقد تضمن الفصل الأول: "الكائن والحرية: حوار الوجود والعدم"، الفصل الثاني: "الإنسان الكامل"، الفصل الثالث: "معنى الحياة: الإنسان المنتمي إلى الوجود".
