تشهد البيئة ومشاكلها وقضاياها في يومنا هذا اهتماماً كبيراً على المستويات العربية والعالمية. وتلعب المرأة في هذا الاتجاه دورها الغالي مستحقة كعنصر أساسي في حركة المجتمع وكقوة ضاغطة يمكن أن تصنع التغيير الإيجابي وتوجهه. وفي هذا الإطار يأتي الكتاب الذي نقلب صفحاته، حيث يوضح هذا الدور البيئي المميز للمرأة، كمربية بيئية، تحثّ على إجراء تغييرات في السلوك لنفسها ولأولادها لغيرها بما يعزز دور المجتمع ومشاركته الفعالة في الحماية البيئية وصيانة الموارد الطبيعية، موضحاً دور المرأة في إنجاح البرامج الإنمائية المرتبطة بالعائد الاقتصادي والاجتماعي، من خلال مفهومي التعليم والعمل اللذين يحققان إجراء تحسينات جوهرية في وضع المرأة وأسرتها، إذ لا يمكن لتخطيط الأسرة أن ينجح نجاحاً كاملاً بدون تخطيط صحيح وفعال للأسرة يرتكز على مفهومي التعليم والعمل، بالإضافة إلى ذلك يؤكد الكتاب إيلاء عناية خاصة بالمرأة الريفية، وضرورة توعيتها وتعليمها ورفع مستوى وعيها الصحي وتعريفها بحقوقها وواجباتها وتمكينها من تطوير أساليب مشاركتها في الأعمال الزراعية والصناعات الحرفية والغذائية، ودعم وتطوير برامج الإرشاد الزراعي وأساليبه ووسائله بما يحقق وصول الخدمات الزراعية إلى كل من المرأة والرجل في الريف وتوضيح دور التنظيمات النسائية في تفعيل دور المرأة في إدارة البيئة، وفي المحافظة على الموارد الإنتاجية وتعبئة جهود النساء لزيادة قدرتهن على مساعدة أنفسهن وغيرهن في مجال صون البيئة وتحسينها.
ويمكن لهذا الكتاب أن يكون بمثابة مرجع توجيهي للمرأة في أي موقع من مواقع العمل والإنتاج والتربية يفيدها في جهودها الرامية إلى الزرع القيم البيئية لدى أفراد أسرتها وتعويدهم على الممارسات السلوكية التي من شأنها الحفاظ على البيئة. ومن جهة أخرى من مساهمتها في تحقيق رسم سياسة بيئية واضحة وأسس الالتزام وتطبيقها.
