هدفت الدراسة إلى تقديم معلومات إستكشافية حول حقيقة العملات الإفتراضية المشفرة بشكل عام، وعملة التكوين بشكل خاص، بالتركيز على أربعة أبعاد: البعد التقني وتهديداته، البعد الإقتصادي وآثاره، البعد الشرعي وحكمه، البعد المحاسبي ومعالجته، وكان ذلك بإستخدام المنهج الوصفي والمنهج التحليلي والمنهج الإستنباطي.
توصلت الدراسة إلى أنه رغم الأمان الذي تتمتع به العملات الإفتراضية، إلا أن الدراسات الإستقصائية في الجانب التقني أثبتت إمكانية حدوث سرقات وإحتيال على شركات ومنصات التداول الخاصة بها، إضافةً إلى عدم كفاءة العملات الإفتراضية من الناحية الإقتصادية، لما تعانيه من عدم إستقرار نتيجة التقلبات الحادة على أسعارها، نظراً إلى إعتمادها على قوى العرض والطلب السوقيّة فقط.
أمّا من الناحية الشرعية، فيمنع مصلحياً التعامل بها لعدم وجود تنسيق قانوني وتشريعي يضبط عملها ويكفل حقوق مستخدميها وواجباتهم، ومن الناحية المحاسبية فهي أقرب بطبيعتها وخصائصها إلى قياسها على أنها إمّا من الأصول النقدية أو من الأصول غير الملموسة، مع فقدانها لإعتبارات شرعية تجعل منها أقرب إلى الأموال غير المتقوّمة، التي لا تتوافق مع متطلبات ومعايير المحاسبة الإسلامية.
وتوصي الدراسة بضرورة إيجاد تنسيق وتعاون تشريعي دولي منظم لإنشاء وإيجاد بديل إلكتروني كفء وفعّال، وبما يتماشى مع الأهداف الإقتصادية وأحكام وضوابط الشريعة الإسلامية.
