تعد هندسة الحدائق إحدى العلوم الهندسة الزراعية المهتمة بخلق ظروف أفضل وتكوين لوحة أجمل وإستخدام النباتات الغباتية بشكل واسع في مختلف مجالات حياتنا اليومية في خلال إنشاء وتوسيع في الحدائق لا سيما العامة داخل المدن وحولها وعلى الطرق العامة وحول المؤسسات الصناعية الصغيرة منها والكبيرة وعلى الأخص ذلك المؤسسات التي تساهم وبشكل كبير في تلويث الوسط المحيط فقد شمل هذا المؤلف على أربعة أبواب كل واحد منهم مكمل للآخر ولا يجوز فصل أو الإستغناء عن أحد الابواب حيث تناول الباب الأول موضوع هندسة الحدائق مع الشرح الموجز لمراحل تطور هذا الفن بين الشعوب في مختلف العصور العابرة ثم أسس التخطيط والتصميم والعوامل المؤثرة ومكونات الحدائق المختلفة.
أما الباب الثاني فقد تناول الأنواع المختلفة للحدائق بداية من الحدائق العامة ومروراً بالنباتية والمنزلية وإنتهاءً بالمنتزهات الوطنية مع تناول حدائق المصانع والمعامل والتركيز على الأحزمة الخضراء داخل وخارج المدن.
بينما الباب الثالث فقد تناول أهمية الحدائق ومساحات الخضراء ودوراً في تحسين الظروف المناخية سواء داخل المدينة وخارج وعلى جوانب الطرقات العامة ومساهمتها في حماية البيئة من خطر تلوث الذي يهدد كل ما هو حي على هذه الارض، بالإضافة إلى تناول الخواص البيولوجية لنباتات الشجرية والشجيرية وعلاقتها بالوسط المحيط وقيمتها البرية.
أما الباب الرابع فقد تناول وبشكل موجز الأنواع النباتية الشجرية والشجيرية التي استخدمت ويمكن إستخدامها في تكوين الحدائق ذات منظر جميل ومريح للزائرين والذين هم أمس الحاجة لها خاصة في المدن المكتظة بالسكان وكذلك أشجار الطرقات العامة وأشجار الشوارع.
