ما يميز الشاعر أنه عالي السيطرة على أدواته الكتابية، بارع في تسخير وظائف اللغة وألعاب التصوير وتشكيلات الإيقاع وكيمياء النص، فضلاً عن صموده أكثر من مركب صعب وعر في غمرة هذه المزايا كلها.
في قصيدة بعنوان (نَسيبْ) يقول: الجبال الطويلة التي تخيلناها، عادت تطال من عزف الصيف، سلاسل الجبال الطويلة التي تخيلناها، ثمة ترعى صحارى مدينية، عدت ترعى صحارى مدينية، أو تعيد:، ستنهار الأرض، الجبال من أزرق، والظلال من أزرق،... ربيع آخر، وتنهار مجازاتك الرمل، وتتناثر مجازاتك الرمل، وتتناثر، ممراتك النجوم...".
يضم الديوان ستة وثلاثون قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت بتلاوين مختلفة نذكر من عناوينها: الزيارة، كؤوس متباعدة، في حانات يضيئها برق خفيف، مأثرة، الأشياء طويلة ومائلة، شجرة سماق حمراء"... الخ.
