يبحث هذا الكتاب، وهو في الأصل رسالة جامعية، في فرقة "الشيخية" وهي فرقة خرجت من رحم الاتجاه الأخباري الذي برز في بعض أوساط الشيعة الإمامية منذ مطلع القرن الحادي عشر الهجري واستمر حتى منتصف القرن الثالث عشر حيث تغلب عليه الاتجاه الأصولي، ويتضمن تمهيداً وخمسة أبواب وخاتمة. يتحدث في التمهيد عن محاولات التوفيق -ما اهتم مؤسس هذه الفرقة الشيخ أحمد الإحسائي. ويبحث في الفصل الأول في الحركات الفكرية عند الشيعة الإمامية في القرن الثالث عشر الهجري، وفي الثاني في سيرة الشيخ الإحسائي، وفي الثالث في سيرة كاظم الرشتي، تلميذ الإحسائي، وفي الرابع في انقسام الشيخية وتعدد زعاماتها، وفي الخامس في آراء الفرقة الشيخية، حيث يتم التركيز على مسائل الخلاف بين هذه الفرقة ومعارضيها، وأبرزها أربع مسائل هي: المعاد الجسماني، المعراج الجسماني، الغلو والتفويض، والركن الرابع.
أما الخاتمة فيلخص فيها المؤلف أهم ما انتهى إليه بحثه هذا من نتائج.
