تشكّل عبر فارس عصى على الإمتحان، لأن حياته خضعت إلى سلسلة من التجارب السياسية والنضالية والأدبية، فكانت جميعها شخصه دون منازع... فجاءت هذه القصائد بعض كنز احتوى على ما يحمله النبيل حين يعود على صهوة الجرح، فيقول كمال في دفتر قلقه واحزانه: "ما عاد مصير الخارج في حسابي، أحس أنني مقاتل قديم تقاعد عن كفاحه، وهو مزيج من الشعور بالهزيمة واليأس، تجتاجه... ما زلت مرغماً على القتال في جبهة ثانية، ما زالت هوية المحارب تستعبدني، إن من استيقظ مرة، استيقظ السلاح في يده وليس من السهل أن يسقطه من جديد، ويلبس هوية أخرى"...
هو هكذا "كمال"، الواضح، الصادق، حتى في ألمه النضالي والذاتي، كان جميلاً في وحشته وغربته وصراعه، وقد تمكن من أن يضخّ بلغته المحبوكة صوراً شعرية، طغت بمعناها وقالبها ولغتها على الشعر...
