(الحج) لغة: هو القصد إلى مُعَظَّم للزيارة أو العبادة، وفي الشرع: هو قصد بيت الله الحرام في مكة المكرمة لأداء أعمال تعبدية مخصوصة (كالإحرام والطواف، والسعي، والوقوف بعرفة) في زمن مخصوص (أشهر الحج) تحقيقاً للقيام بأداء الركن الخامس من أركان الإسلام وهو النسك الذي جعله ربنا (عزّ وجلّ) حقاً لذاته العلية على كل مسلم بالغ عاقل حر مستطيع، ولو لمرة واحدة في العمر.
و"الحج" مؤتمر سنوي عام لمسلمي العالم، يجب أن تُفهم شعائره، وأحكامه، وحدوده، وحرمة موقعه، وكرامة ذلك الموقع في الكتاب والسنّة، وقِدَم هذه العبادة التي شرعها الله (عزّ وجلّ) لجميع عباده من لدن أبينا آدم إلى قيام الساعة، وقيمتها عند رب العالمين، والحكمة من فرضيتها، ومقاصدها والفوائدة المرجوة منها، كما يجب أن تُدرس حجة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حتى يتم الإقتداء به في أداء هذه العبادة وهو القائل: "خذوا عني مناسككم" كما يجب تحديد الدروس المستفادة من حجته صلى الله عليه وسلم.
ومن هنا كانت هذه الرسالة الموجزة التي أرادها المؤلف أن تكون مفيدة لقارئيها وأن يعفو عما جاء في قصور فيها.
