يشكل هذا الكتاب دراسة في شعرية فدوى طوقان (ولدت سنة 1917- توفيت سنة 2003) أعد الدراسة الأستاذة نورة سعد الشهراني تحت عنوان "صورة المفقود في شعر فدوى طوقان.
إنطلاقاً من ثيمة الفقد لدى الشاعرة التي طوعت كل أدوات فنها لمفقود عزَّ عليها؛ فتأسس بناؤها الشعري على الشعور بالفقد، والحرمان، والصراع بين واقعها، ونفسها؛ فكانت صورها الشعرية مطية ذلولاً، تهادى ركبها - كاشفاً - إلى أعماق وجدان أرهقته سطوة الفقد بتعبير المؤلفة.
من هنا، تمخضت هذه الدراسة، لإستكناه التحوّل العميق للفقد من خارج النص إلى دواخله، من علاقته الحياتيّة المعاشة، إلى تصاوير شعريّة - اختزلت عوالم الشاعرة وواقعها - ولإستقراء تجلّيات تلك المفقودات في أعطاف صور فدوى الشعرية، مع العناية بالظواهر الأسلوبيّة الجزئية لها، وإستجلاء دقائق بواطنها.
ومن هنا، أيضاً كانت هذه الدراسة الكاشفة عن ماهيات مفقودات (فدوى)، وتجلياتها في خطابها الشعري.
تتألف الدراسة من ثلاثة فصول تنطوي على ثمان مباحث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: الفصل الأول: صورة المفقود في شعر فدوى، الفصل الثاني: الأشكال البلاغية لصورة المفقود، الفصل الثالث: مستويات تشكيل صورة المفقود، وأخيراً خاتمة وخلاصات.
