لمت الدائرة شمل أبناء اليزيدية من التفرقة والتشتت، منذ أن وجدت هذه الديانة وحتى الآن، ولكن الفرمانات التي صدرت بحقها، والمصائب التي ألحقت بها للتباعد بين المركز والمحيط، أدت إلى خروج البعض من أبنائها عن الدائرة في ظروف استثنائية. ما زال الغموض يكتنف الديانة اليزيدية، رغم العديد من الدراسات والبحوث التي كتبت حولها؛ فمثلاً ادعى البعض أنها تعود في أصولها إلى الديانة الإسلامية، واعتبروها فئة منشقة عن الإسلام، وربطوا تاريخها بتاريخ الخليفة الأموي يزيد بن معاوية أو يزيد بن أنيسة الخارجي، أو حتى الشيخ آدي.. وهكذا وجهت التهم إليها ليس من قبل المؤرخين فقد وجد أن اليزيدية، امتداد للزرادشتية، والمانوية. فما هي حقيقة الأمر؟يحاول هذا الكتاب أن يزيل الركام الهائل الذي يغطي حقيقة هذه الديانة وأن يفك طلاسمها.
