في هذا الكتاب "الاتجاهات الاجتماعية والسياسية في جل لبنان والمشرق العربي من المتصرفية العثمانية إلى دولة لبنان الكبير، محاولة لتبيين المواقع الاجتماعية للاتجاهات السياسية المختلفة التي عرفها تاريخ المنطقة في مرحلة 1858-1920، وكيف تحددت وظيفة هذه المواقع في سياق تاريخية واحد ارتبطت فيه ثلاث عمليات تاريخية متداخلة:-تفكك بنى السلطة العثمانية،-التغلغل الاستعماري الغربي،-نشوء اتجاهات وهويات قومية عديدة في الولايات العربية العثمانية.
وكل هذا جاء متمحوراً حول نموذج في عملية الانتقال في جبل لبنان من صيغة المتصرفية العثمانية إلى صيغة دولة لبنان الكبير ومنعقداًُ في مجرى الاتجاهات السياسية الكبرى في المشرق العربي، التي درست اعتماداً على وثائقها وأصولها.
