قصة البلقان، الكتاب الأول في ثلاثية سيسميها المؤلف "الشراكسة" التي هي عبارة عن عرض متسلسل تاريخياً للشعور الشركسية في المنافي، وهو تاريخ وضعه المؤلف في قالب قصصي وهي استمرار لقصة الشعب الشركسي بعد هجرتهم المأساوية من القفقاس عام 1864. إذ تم تهجير قرابة مليوني شركسي إلى تركيا العثمانية عن طريق موانئ البحر الأسود ومن بين هذه القبائل صدرت الأوامر لشعب الشاسبوغ القادم من القفقاس الغربي للتوجه إلى فارنا ومصب نهر الدانوب على الشواطئ الغربية للبحر الأسود. وتم بعد ذلك نقلهم على عبارات نهرية خطرة في قوافل إلى بلغاريا، حيث تعرضوا للعديد من الكوارث والمخاطر.
وقصة هذا الكتاب مستوحاة من أحداث تاريخية فعلية، ففي بلغاريا أجبر العثمانيون البلغار على بناء المنازل للشركس القادمين، واضطر بعض المواطنين إلى التخلي عن بيوتهم الإسكان اللاجئين المسلمين في بلادهم. وكان نتيجة هذا كراهية عميقة متجذرة ضد الشراكسة في البلقان.
ومؤلف هذا الكتاب هو شركس هاجر أجداده من القفقاس إلى تركيا العثمانية ثم إلى الأردن، قرابة مطلع القرن العشرين، وسافر في فترة مراهقته إلى الولايات المتحدة الأميركية وأتم دراسته الجامعية الأولى والعليا في ولايتي أمديانا وكاليفورنيا.
