التضحية من أجل من نحب، هو ما ترصده رواية "بين الحب والتضحية أقف" للروائية "جمانة عبد الله بافيل، تتناول بافيل هذه الموضوعة عبر حالتين يتم تظهيرهما في الرواية الأولى هي تضحية "ملكز" اتجاه أمها التي تعرضت لحادث سير ما استدعى تبرع الإبنة بكليتها، حين أخبر الأطباء العائلة بأنها مصابة بفشل كلوي، والحالة الثانية هي التزام الطبيب "إياد" بواجبه المهني وإجراء العملية للفتاة التي أحبها "ملك" على الرغم من احتمال عدم نجاح العملية. وفي الرواية تشكل أسرة ملك وأفرادها المحور الذي تتمحور حوله الأحداث بالتناوب مع أسرة أخرى هي أسرة "إياد" ، والأسرتان، تجمعان بين السعة المادية، والمكانة الإجتماعية، والأخلاق الحميدة، يجسدون قيم التضامن الأسري، متماسكون لفي السرّاء والضراء، يمدون يد المساعدة إلى بعضهم البعض، لذلك، ما أن يواجه أحد افرادها مشكلة ما، حتى يتدخل القدر في اللحظة المناسبة ليأخذ بيدهم إلى بر الأمان، ولعله نوع من المكافأة على الصبر، والقناعة، وعدم فقدان الأمل، والإيمان الذي تتحلى به شخوص الرواية، ولعل أجمل ما حمله القدر قد تجسد في قصة الحب بين "ملك وإياد" الذي تكلل بالزواج في نهاية الرواية.
هذه المواصفات تجمعل من "بين الحب والتضحية أقف" نصاً روائياً رشيقاً، سائغاً، يتعامل مع الحياة بطريقة سلسلة، فيجمع بين فائدة الحكاية، ومتعة الخطاب.
