الشَّهْرَزُوري، عثمان بن عبد الرحمن (557 - 643هـ، 1161 - 1245م).
عثمان بن عبد الرحمن، أبو عمرو، تقي الدين المعروف بابن الصلاح. عالم في الحديث والفقه والتفسير وأسماء الرجال. وُلد في شرخان، بلد قرب شهرزور. ثم انتقل إلى الموصل. تفقه على والده عبد الرحمن بن عثمان صلاح الدين. وسمع من أبي المظفر بن السمعاني، وعبد الصمد بن الحرستاني والشيخ موفق الدين المقدسي، وابن عساكر، وغيرهم. رحل إلى بغداد وهمذان ونيسابور ومرو ودمشق وحلب وحران وبيت المقدس. ثم رجع إلى دمشق، واستقر بها، وولاه الملك الأشرف التدريس بها في دار الحديث الأشرفية. له مصنفات كثيرة منها: معرفة أنواع علوم الحديث، ويُعرف بمقدمة ابن الصلاح؛ الأمالي؛ الفتاوى؛ شرح الوسيط؛ فوائد الرحلة؛ أدب المفتي والمستفتي؛ طبقات الفقهاء الشافعية؛ صلة الناسك في صفة المناسك. تُوفي في دمشق.

علم الحديث علم جليل القدر، عظيم النفع، وفق الله تعالى أئمة أجلة لإبتكار قواعده وضوابطه، ذبّاً عن سنة المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم، فميزوا بين الصحيح والسقيم والمنقول عنه والموضوع، فحفظوا بذلك شرعته من النقصان والإزدياد، ودحضوا أهل الأهواء والعناد.
وهو خصيصة اختص الله تعالى هذه الأمة وشرفها وفضلها بها.
وإن أهم ما ألف في هذا العلم الجليل كتاب (علوم الحديث) الذي ألفه الحافظ الفقيه أبو عمرو ابن الصلاح فهذب به فنونه واعتنى بتصانيف من سبقه لا سيما تصانيف الخطيب البغدادي فجمع شتات مقاصدها ومتفرقات مباحثها.
لذا كان كتاب (علوم الحديث) من أجمع ما كُتب في فنه، والناس من حَمَلَة الحديث ومَهَرَة أصوله بعده عيال عليه، فلا يُحصى كم من ناظم له ومختصر ومستدرك عليه ومقتصر، ومعارض له ومنتصر.
وها هو ذا يخرج بحلة جديدة لطلبة العلم المهتمين بهذا العلم الجليل.
