بقي علي أن أطرق الباب وانتظر قليلاً كي يُشرع، وعلى بهادر أن يؤجل عودته يوماً، نظراً للظروف الجوية السيئة.
كان المنزل جميلاً جداً حتى وهو مكسو بالثلوج، لكأنه تحفة أثرية نادرة، لا يجرؤ قادمٌ على أن يمدّ يده إليه، لقد كان إنتقالُ بهادر سريعاً من ذلك المنزل البائس إلى هذه الفيلا الفارهة يثير شبهات حوله ويحير العقول، ويحكي قصة نجاح سريع.
سحبتُ المزلاج، ودخلتُ عبر الباب الخارجيّ إلى الحديقة، كان الحوض طافحاً بالثلج، يشد الإنسان إلى أن يغوص فيه كالسمك سابحاً.
ألقيتُ نظرة أخيرة على هذا المشهد البديع ثم جثثتُ الخطا نحو الباب، لم يسبقني أحدٌ إلى المشي في الحديقة، محوتُ بخطواتي العشوائية ذلك المشهد الجميل وذلك الصفاء الرائع الذي رسمه الثلج.
ارتقيتُ السلم بخطا وئيدة، أصلحتُ هندامي، ثم طرقت الباب، لم أكن أتوقع وجوده في البيت، بل لم أكن أفكر في وجوده أصلاً، وحين تناهى إلى سمعي وقعُ أقدام من وراء الباب بلعتُ ريقي، وشعرت بالإرتعاش، لا أدري كيف أصف لكم خفقان فؤادي في تلك اللحظة العصيبة.
