في هذا الكتاب يقف الأستاذ أكرم طليس على دور الإمام موسى الصدر في لبنان وفي النجف وقم وحركة العلماء بين لبنان - العراق - إيران، والوضع الشيعي عامة في رجالاته وجمعياته وعلماءه ومكانته في الحياة السياسية في لبنان خاصة، مبتدئاً عمله بمجيء الإمام موسى الصدر إلى مدينة صور، وتكوين حركته، وأبرزها إنشاء المجلس الإسلامي الشيعي الأعلى، وتالياً تكوين حركة المحرومين، وأفواج المقاومة اللبنانية " حركة أمل " مروراً بموقف الإمام من الحرب الأهلية في لبنان (1975م) ، ومقدماتها من تحرك الإمام، وجهده السياسي في وقف الحرب، من خلال علاقته مع الأطراف السياسية في لبنان. كل هذا الجهد جعل الكتاب يبرز بوضوح شخصية الإمام كحالة فريدة في تاريخ لبنان وهو ما يؤكده أصفياءه وكل من عاصره، وأرّخ لسيرته العامة والخاصة، يتمظهر هذا أكثر من خلال سلسلة مقابلات أجراها المؤلف مع سياسيين وعلماء دين، من مختلف الطوائف والأحزاب وقد شكلت مادة لمعظم عناوين الكتاب.
وفي الكتاب أيضاً، تسليط الضوء على جريمة اختفاء الإمام عام (1978م)، والثورة الإسلامية في إيران (1979م)، والحدث السياسي الأبرز، عملية الإجتياح الإسرائيلي للبنان، والوصول حتى بيروت عام (1982م)، والحرب الإيرانية - العراقية، وأثرها على الثورة الإسلامية الوليدة الناشئة في إيران، والوضع في لبنان وعن دور الحرس الثوري في إدارة المقاومة، ومحطات أخرى يذكرها المؤلف تشمل العمل الدبلوماسي في سورية ولبنان وفلسطين ... وموضوعات أخرى ذات صلة.
