وهو ما يفسر رغبة بعض الأطراف في جعل آلات القرن الواحد والعشرين قادرة على محاكاة الإنسان بشكل ذكي، الأمر الذي جعلها تتوقع أن تترك مجتمعات المستقبل معظم أنشطتها للآلات الذكية، من قبيل معالجة المعلومة وإتخاذ القرار والسياقة الآلية وتنظيم السير وإطفاء الحرائق، وغيرها؛ فكل شيء في حياتنا الخاصة والمهنية سيكون مبرمجاً بذكاء.
هذا التطور السريع للتقنية من شأنه أن يجعل حياتنا كحاسوب مبرمج، لصبح الإنسان محاصراً في حياته الخاصة والعامة بما هو آلي.
بالتالي، ستتقلص مهمة الإنسان ليصبح مجرد مراقب للأزرار؛ فكل ما عليه فعله هو الضغط على هذا الزر أو ذاك، لتتولى الآلة ما تبقى، فلن يضطر المرء مستقبلاً إلى مغادرة غرفة نومه؛ فكل شيء سيكون في متناوله، وبأقل مجهود ممكن، فكل ما عليه هو الضغط على هذا الزر أو ذاك.
