إن تدقيق الحسابات، بشقية النظري والعلمي، كعلم، وفن، كغيره من العلوم الإجتماعية، يمثل نوعاً من البناء الإجتماعي الذي يتأثر بالبيئة ومستجداتها، وبالتالي فهو يتطلب إستمرارية التعديل والتنقيح بما يحقق الأهداف المرجوة منه لخدمة مستخدمي البيانات المالية على أفضل وجه.
ولما كانت معايير التدقيق الدولية تسعى إلى توفير مستوى معقول من الضوابط التي تضبط عملية التدقيق وتحدد نوعاً من الإطار الذي يعمل المدقق ضمنه، وهي في نفس الوقت في تغير وتطور مستمر، فإنه لا بد من المراجعة الدائمة إلى ما يكتب من مؤلفات في تدقيق الحسابات.
وإن المتفحص لمعايير التدقيق الدولية يتبين أن ثمة تعديلات تطرأ على هذه المعايير بين الحين والآخر، ولذلك فإن الحاجة ملحة لمراجعة ما يكتب في مجال التدقيق بإستمرار، ومن هنا ظهرت الحاجة إلى طبعة جديدة من تدقيق الحسابات في ضوء معايير التدقيق الدولية، وفيما يلي أهم التعديلات التي أدخلت في هذه الطبعة السادسة:
1-تم تصحيح الأخطاء اللغوية والأخطاء المطبعية التي وردت في الطبعة الخامسة في مختلف الفصول.
2-إجزاء تعديل على الفصل الأول بإضافة فقرة عن رأي مدقق الحسابات تبين أنواع التقارير التي يمكن أن يصدرها المدقق.
3-إجراء تعديلات جوهرية تتعلق بتقارير المدقق وفقاً لتعديلات المعايير الدولية الأخيرة وذلك ضمن الفصل التاسع، وشمل ذلك تعديلات التقرير المعياري، حسب معيار رقم 700 التي أصبحت سارية المفعول إعتباراً من نهاية عام 2016 ومتطلبات معيار رقم 701 الذي يتعلق بقضايا التدقيق الرئيسة وتعديلات التقارير المعدلة حسب المعيار رقم 705 وتعديلات معيار رقم 706 الذي يتعلق الفقرات التأكيدية والفقرات الأخرى في التقرير.
